Terms of Service
Effective date: 2026-07-01
1.Who we are and what these terms cover
CFO Shortlist (“CFO Shortlist,” “we,” “us”) operates cfoshortlist.com, a subscription platform that helps finance leaders evaluate enterprise performance management (EPM) and related software. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website, the platform, and all content and tools we provide (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you use the Service on behalf of a company, you represent that you have authority to bind that company, and “you” means that company.
2.What the Service is — and what it is not
The Service provides vendor-evaluation intelligence: analyst-curated vendor profiles, capability assessments, fit scoring, cost modeling, comparison matrices, and related decision-support tools. It is informational. It is not professional, financial, legal, accounting, or investment advice, and it is not a substitute for your own due diligence. Software purchasing decisions depend on facts specific to your organization that we cannot know; you remain solely responsible for any decision you make, including vendor selection, contract terms, and implementation outcomes.
We work hard to keep vendor data accurate — assessments are analyst-curated, source-cited where possible, and refreshed on a published cadence — but vendor products, pricing, and organizations change constantly, and despite our verification efforts the data may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or out-of-date information. Verify any material claim directly with the vendor before relying on it. Our methodology page explains how scores are produced and where uncertainty is surfaced.
3.Accounts
The Service uses passwordless, magic-link authentication: you sign in with a link sent to your email address. You are responsible for maintaining control of that email account and for all activity that occurs under your CFO Shortlist account. Keep your registration information accurate, and notify us promptly at rob@cfoshortlist.com if you suspect unauthorized access. Accounts are for a single named user unless your plan expressly provides otherwise.
4.Subscriptions, billing, and refunds
The shortlist module is free with an account. Paid access is offered as the Pro plan ($99 per month, plus any applicable taxes), which unlocks the remaining modules and exports. Current prices are always shown at checkout. The Pro plan renews automatically each month unless you cancel first. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid term, and you keep access until then. We do not prorate partial terms.
If the Service is not what you expected, email rob@cfoshortlist.com within 14 days of your initial purchase or of any renewal charge and we will refund that payment in full. After 14 days, payments are non-refundable except where required by law. We may change pricing for future terms with at least 30 days’ notice before the change applies to you.
5.Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, crawl, bulk-download, or otherwise systematically extract the vendor dataset, scores, or assessments, whether manually or by automated means;
- resell, redistribute, publish, or sublicense the dataset or any substantial portion of the Service’s content, including to train machine-learning models;
- access the Service through bots, scripts, or any automated mechanism other than interfaces we expressly provide;
- share account credentials or circumvent access controls or usage limits;
- use the Service to violate any law or third-party right, or to misrepresent our assessments as a vendor endorsement.
Ordinary business use is expected and welcome: you may share excerpts, exports, and memos generated by the Service inside your organization as part of a software evaluation.
6.Intellectual property
The Service — including the vendor dataset, scoring methodology, assessments, software, and design — is owned by CFO Shortlist or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your internal software-evaluation purposes during your subscription. Data you enter into the Service — your company profile, requirements, notes, and scorecards — remains yours. You grant us a limited license to host and process it solely to operate and improve the Service.
7.Independence and vendor trademarks
We are independent. No vendor pays for placement, ranking, or favorable treatment in our assessments. Vendor names, logos, and trademarks appearing in the Service belong to their respective owners; their appearance identifies the products under evaluation and does not imply any affiliation with, sponsorship of, or endorsement by those vendors.
8.Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service or its data will be accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted, or error-free. Section 2 applies to all vendor data and scoring output.
9.Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CFO Shortlist will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or the cost of substitute services, arising out of or relating to the Service — including any purchasing decision made in reliance on it — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10.Termination
You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms (including the acceptable-use rules in Section 5) and, where the breach is curable, fail to cure it within a reasonable period after notice. If we terminate without cause, we will refund the prorated unused portion of your current term. Sections 6, 8, 9, 11, and any other provisions that by their nature should survive will survive termination.
11.Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The parties will first attempt in good faith to resolve any dispute informally by contacting each other; any dispute not resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Connecticut, and both parties consent to their jurisdiction.
12.Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or an in-product notice at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance; if you do not agree, cancel before the change takes effect and Section 4’s refund terms apply.
